Standard 5 suggests that as part of Professional practice we must all: "Assess, provide feedback and report on student learning." (AITSL. 2012) This feedback should be both formal and informal. Informal feedback is mostly verbal and should be given throughout each lesson in the form of suggestion, discussion and mentoring of students. Formal feedback is usually a written response given on the appropriate criteria sheet. The following are two examples of such a response. It is important that formal feedback be given as quickly as possible in order for students to see the relevance and make adjustments in their learning to improve their achievement.
